A letter from Project GRAD Cincinnati:
Everybody Rides Metro provided the transportation for Project GRAD's Summer Bridge program. This is a three-week orientation for Western Hills University High School's incoming freshmen. Thirty-nine students participated. All but five depended on Metro for transportation to and from the high school, the program's site. Without ERM, those 34 students wouldn't have been able to participate because they had no other means of transportation. As part of Summer Bridge, students received instruction from WHUHS teachers in Mathematics, English, Physical Education, and Spanish, actually earning a PE credit for satisfactory completion. Among the special activities incorporated were trips to Northern Kentucky University and Redwood, a learning center for physically and mentally challenged children and adults. The NKU visit was the first time many of our students had been on a college campus. Many saw "how I can succeed and go on to college." Doing community service at Redwood had a great impact on our students, many of whom said it "gave me a better outlook on things that I take for granted." Without ERM, these young people would have missed these and the many other growth opportunities available to them through our program. The staff and students at Summer Bridge are grateful for Metro's continuing support.
